HyperOS 3.1 went to phones eligible for Android 16, starting with a beta in China in January 2026 and reaching about 40 devices worldwide by late May. Check Xiaomi's eligible device list for your model and region.

The other route: Google Motion Assist
Google's Motion Assist draws the same kind of dots on phones running Android 17 or later with an up to date Google Play services. It reached Pixel phones first, then Galaxy phones on One UI 9 in September 2026, and a Play services update on September 21, 2026 opened it to other Android 17 phones. On a Xiaomi phone it arrives with that phone's Android 17 update. To look for it, search Settings for motion assist. The rollout is staged, so an eligible phone can take a while to show it.

What the dots can't do
The dots help while you are looking at the screen. They are a prevention aid for reading or scrolling as a passenger, not a way to stop nausea that has already started, and they do nothing once the phone is away. If it builds anyway, put the phone down, look out at the horizon and get some fresh air.
