Does Motorola have a motion sickness feature?
Not one of its own. Motorola's software has no motion sickness setting, so on a Motorola the dots come from Google's Motion Assist, which Google documents for phones on Android 17 or later with an up to date Google Play services. Motorola has confirmed Android 17 for more than 50 phones, began releasing it in August 2026 and widened the rollout in the US in October. Once your Motorola has the update, open Settings and search for motion assist. If nothing comes up, the staged rollout has not reached your phone yet.
Dots help you keep reading. If the nausea has already started, compare the Android motion sickness apps, including the sound-based ones you use with headphones.

What it does
Motion Assist draws small shapes along the left and right edges of the screen that move with the vehicle as it speeds up, brakes and turns, so what you see matches the motion you feel. It can start on its own when the phone detects a moving vehicle, and Google notes that the detection does not always work.
Which Motorola phones can get it
Motorola has confirmed Android 17 for more than 50 phones across its Razr, Edge, Moto G and Signature lines. The stable update reached the Motorola Signature in India on August 25, 2026 and the Edge 70 on September 18, 2026, and the rest of the list gets it in phases, model by model. In early October the rollout widened to the Razr Ultra (2026) in the US and to the Edge 60 Fusion and Edge 60 Pro, and Android Authority reported the Razr 2026 receiving it on October 8. Reports of the list name the Moto G (2025), Moto G Power (2025) and Razr (2025) among the eligible phones, while the Edge 50, Edge 50 Pro, Edge 50 Fusion and Razr 2024 were left off. A Motorola that stays on Android 16 cannot get Motion Assist.
If you can't find it
- Your phone may not have Android 17 yet: Motorola is releasing it model by model and region by region.
- Phones left off Motorola's Android 17 list stay on Android 16 and cannot get Motion Assist.
- On Android 17 it can still take a while to appear, because Google releases Motion Assist in stages through Play services.
- Until it arrives, a third-party dot app is the fallback.

What the dots can't do
The dots help while you are looking at the screen. They are a prevention aid for reading or scrolling as a passenger, not a way to stop nausea that has already started, and they do nothing once the phone is away. If it builds anyway, put the phone down, look out at the horizon and get some fresh air.
