The Callisto Protocol Motion Sickness: Why It Happens & What Helps
The Callisto Protocol is a third-person survival horror game with a close camera. Motion blur and film grain can be turned off, and an Accessibility section has Screen Options for effects such as Low Health FX. A December 2022 patch lowered the default camera shake. There is no field of view setting on consoles, and we found no official one on PC. Checked October 2026.

Why The Callisto Protocol can trigger motion sickness
The camera sits close behind Jacob as he fights through Black Iron Prison, and MP1st notes that turning feels slow on purpose. On consoles there is no field of view setting to widen the view. Camera shake, motion blur and screen effects add movement the eyes have to track. Striking Distance lowered the default camera shake in a December 2022 patch, and motion blur, film grain and most screen effects can be switched off.
- A close third-person camera, with no field of view setting on consoles
- Camera shake, which a December 2022 patch lowered by default
- Motion blur, film grain and screen effects such as the red low health effect

| Motion blur | In-game settings | Turn it off. MP1st lists it with the graphics options |
| Film grain | In-game settings | Turn it off for a cleaner, steadier image |
| Screen Options | Accessibility > Screen Options | Turn off the effects you do not need, such as Low Health FX, which makes the screen go red |
| Aim and look sensitivity | In-game settings | Set them so turning feels comfortable. Faster turns mean fewer long, slow pans, but test in small steps |
