Resident Evil Requiem Motion Sickness: Why It Happens & What Helps

Resident Evil Requiem is playable in first person or third person, and switching between them is the built-in fix. It lives in Settings under the Camera tab, and you can change it at any point in the game rather than only at a checkpoint. The director has said on record that third person is there mainly for players who could not handle first person in Resident Evil 7. After that, lower or turn off Camera Wobble, the first-person head movement players name most often, and turn motion blur off. The one thing the game does not give you is a field of view slider, on console or on PC, so a narrow first-person view stays narrow. As of August 2026.

Why Resident Evil Requiem can trigger motion sickness

Requiem's default first-person camera puts you inside a helmet-close view with head movement on every step, and it does it in long stretches during the Grace sections where the pace is slow and the corridors are tight. Slow first-person walking is a harder motion-sickness case than fast action, because your eyes track continuous small sway while your inner ear reports nothing at all. The usual counter is to widen the field of view so less of the frame is filled with moving wall, and that is exactly the lever Requiem withholds: coverage confirms there is no FOV slider for either console or PC players. What is left is the perspective toggle, which Capcom built deliberately for players first person defeats, plus Camera Wobble and motion blur. Third person moves the camera outside your character and gives you a stable body to anchor on, which is why it is the first change to make rather than the last. All settings as of August 2026; Capcom patches its menus.

Comfort settings in Resident Evil Requiem

SettingWhereRecommendation
View mode (first or third person)Settings, Camera tabThird person if first person makes you sick. It can be changed at any point in the game, and it is the change the director describes as the reason the mode exists
Camera WobbleSettings, camera optionsLower it or turn it off. A settings guide for the game names it as the one to change if it causes motion sickness
Motion BlurSettings, graphics optionsOff
Camera speedSettings, camera optionsLower it so turns read as smooth rather than snapped. Aim guides push this the other way, so set it for comfort first and accept slower turns
Field of viewNot in the gameThere is no FOV slider on console or PC. The perspective toggle is the substitute, which is why it carries so much of the work here

Frequently asked questions

How do you switch Resident Evil Requiem to third person?+

Open Settings and go to the Camera tab, then change the view mode. It can be changed at any point in the game rather than only between chapters. Third person is the single biggest comfort change available, and the director has said it exists mainly for players who could not handle first person in Resident Evil 7. As of August 2026.

Does Resident Evil Requiem have an FOV slider?+

No. Coverage of the settings menu confirms there is no field of view slider for console or PC players, so the standard widen-the-view fix is not available. Use the third-person view instead, lower Camera Wobble and turn motion blur off. Capcom could add one in a patch, so check your version.

What is Camera Wobble in Resident Evil Requiem?+

It is the setting that controls how much the first-person camera moves as you walk. Players name it as the trigger during the longer first-person sections, and a settings guide for the game recommends lowering or disabling it if it causes motion sickness. Turning it down does not change how the game plays.
