The short answer
These are jokes, and each one sits on a real fact. Tesla revealed the new Roadster on October 15, 2026, with 0 to 60 claims from under 1.6 seconds down to under 0.59. That is a thrill from the driver's seat and a lot to sit through from the other one. Each meme below is followed by the real bit, and the tips at the end are checked against our remedy verdicts.

The memes
Original captions, written by us. They are jokes about a seat, not quotes from anyone.
Tesla: 0 to 60 in under 1.6 seconds.
Me in the passenger seat: 0 to queasy in about the same.
The real bit: Under 1.6 seconds is Tesla's claim for the Performance trim. As an average over the run, worked out from the claimed time, that is at least about 1.7 g; Tesla has not published g figures.
The Roadster Rocket has one seat.
Every motion-sick passenger: finally, a car that respects my boundaries.
The real bit: The Rocket is a one-seater, and invite only. Electrek reports that Tesla's Roadster page says it is not approved for public roads.
Driver: want to see what the thrusters do?
My stomach: I can already feel what they do.
The real bit: Tesla says the thrusters produce four to five times the force the tires can handle. The two-seat Thrust trim has them, and any run like that belongs on a closed course.
Tesla: so... yes, it can fly.
Passengers: can I get out before takeoff?
The real bit: Tesla's own description says the car can fly. In the demo it drove up a curved ramp until it was upside down, flew off, flipped and landed, as Teslarati describes it.
Nobody:
Regen braking every time the driver lifts off: nods you forward like a bobblehead.
The real bit: Lifting off slows a Tesla firmly through regenerative braking, with no engine note to warn a passenger. This one is every Tesla, not only the Roadster.
POV: you said yes to just one launch.
It was not one launch.
The real bit: One launch is brief. Repeated launches, hard braking and hard cornering are what wear a sensitive passenger down, so agree on a number of runs before you get in.
Track Mode: downforce approaching F1 levels.
My inner ear: approaching its limit.
The real bit: Approaching F1 levels is Tesla's claim for Track Mode downforce. More grip lets the car corner and brake harder, and the passenger feels that grip as side load in every fast corner.

Why it actually happens
Motion sickness comes from a mismatch. Your inner ear feels the car surge, brake and turn, while your brain expected something else. The driver knows what the car is about to do, so the gap stays small. A passenger finds out a beat late, which is why drivers rarely get car sick.
The Roadster stacks the odds: hard acceleration on someone else's timing, no engine note to warn you, and cornering grip Tesla says is approaching F1 levels in Track Mode. One launch is brief. A run of them, with hard braking and hard corners in between, is what wears a sensitive passenger down.
The part that applies to every Tesla is regen. Lifting off slows the car firmly, with nothing to warn a passenger. Our Tesla guide covers the settings that soften it, and the Roadster passenger guide goes through launches, braking and the flip.
What actually helps
- A countdown before every launch. Knowing when the push comes is the advantage the driver has. Ask for it every time.
- Head back against the headrest. A head that starts against the headrest moves less, which leaves your inner ear less to report.
- Eyes far ahead, phone face down. Looking at the horizon is the best-supported free fix there is, and a screen in your lap is the classic trigger.
- Call it early. Agree on a number of runs before you get in, and stop at the first yawn or cold sweat.
- Closed course only. Launch runs belong on a closed course, never a public road.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Tesla Roadster really 0 to 60 in under 1.6 seconds?
That is Tesla's claim for the Performance trim. Tesla claims under 0.9 seconds for the Thrust and under 0.59 seconds for the Rocket. No independent test has been published yet.
Does the Tesla Roadster Rocket have a passenger seat?
No. The Rocket has one seat. Electrek reports that Tesla's Roadster page says the Rocket is not approved for public roads.
Why does a Tesla launch feel worse from the passenger seat?
Because the passenger did not choose the moment. The driver knows when the car will go, and the passenger finds out a beat later, with no engine note to warn them. A countdown before each launch, your head against the headrest and your eyes far ahead are the habits worth having, on a closed course.
