Hello Neighbor (and Hello Neighbor 2) Motion Sickness: Why It Happens & What Helps
Hello Neighbor is a first-person stealth horror game about sneaking into your neighbor's house. The two games differ on comfort settings. Hello Neighbor 2 added a field of view option in March 2023. The original has no native field of view or mouse sensitivity option on PC, according to PCGamingWiki, and the only route to a wider view there is a config file edit.

Why Hello Neighbor (and Hello Neighbor 2) can trigger motion sickness
You sneak, crouch, climb and run through a close first-person view, and a chase asks for quick turns. Your eyes read that movement while your inner ear feels you sitting still, and that mismatch is what motion sickness is. In the original on PC you cannot widen the view or slow the mouse from the menus, so the tunnel-vision effect of a narrow view stays. Hello Neighbor 2 gives you a field of view setting with a range of 85 to 110.
- A fixed field of view in the original game on PC
- A mouse sensitivity you cannot change in the original on PC
- Quick turns and climbs during a chase

Comfort settings in Hello Neighbor (and Hello Neighbor 2)
Hello Neighbor (and Hello Neighbor 2) ships some comfort settings, but not a full set.
The original Hello Neighbor has no native field of view or mouse sensitivity option on PC, according to PCGamingWiki. Its field of view can be changed only by editing Engine.ini, which PCGamingWiki says increases the view dramatically and recommends only for multi-monitor setups or very high values. Hello Neighbor 2 added a field of view option in March 2023.
| Setting | Where | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| Field of view (Hello Neighbor 2) | Settings menu | Use the upper half of the range. It runs from 85 to 110, and the default is 95 |
| Controller sensitivity (Hello Neighbor) | In-game settings | Lower it so turns are slower. PCGamingWiki lists it as natively supported in the original |
One guide explains these settings for every game: how field of view, motion blur, head bob and camera shake trigger motion sickness.

What helps beyond the settings
- In the original on PC, play with a controller, which has a native sensitivity setting, and lower it
- Take stealth sections in short stints, and stop at the first queasy signal
- Sit further from the screen so the picture fills less of your view, and look at something still and far away to recover
The fixes people reach for once they step away from the screen are covered separately, with the trials attached: the remedy verdicts.
Frequently asked questions
Does Hello Neighbor have a field of view setting?
Hello Neighbor 2 does. A March 2023 patch added a field of view option to the settings menu, and PCGamingWiki lists a range of 85 to 110 with a default of 95. The original Hello Neighbor does not have one on PC. PCGamingWiki lists it as changeable only by editing a config file.
Where is the field of view setting in Hello Neighbor 2?
In the settings menu. The developer's patch notes for version 1.2.3.4, posted on March 10, 2023, say you can now change FOV in settings. The notes do not name the tab, so look through the settings screens. Move the slider toward the top of its range.
Why does Hello Neighbor make me dizzy?
The view moves as you sneak, climb and run, and a chase asks for quick turns. Your eyes see that movement while your inner ear feels none of it. In the original on PC the field of view and mouse sensitivity are fixed. Use a controller and lower its sensitivity, or play Hello Neighbor 2 and widen the field of view.
