Assetto Corsa Competizione Motion Sickness: Why It Happens & What Helps

Assetto Corsa Competizione keeps its camera comfort controls in the View Settings menu: a field of view (FOV) setting, a cockpit camera movement slider, and a lock to horizon that Kunos moved there in its v1.0.6 update. The horizon lock has a partial setting that you step up or down with keys. Competizione is a separate game from the original Assetto Corsa, so its controls and their locations differ. Checked October 2026.

Why Assetto Corsa Competizione can trigger motion sickness

A cockpit camera that moves with the car shows the horizon tilting and jumping over kerbs. Kunos lets you scale that movement with a percentage slider, and the horizon lock holds the horizon level instead. Each option feeds your eyes a different kind of movement, so the sensible test is a few laps with each setting on the same car and track.

  • Cockpit camera movement that follows the car over kerbs and bumps
  • A horizon that tilts with the car when the lock is off
  • A field of view that does not match your screen size and seating distance

Comfort settings in Assetto Corsa Competizione

Assetto Corsa Competizione ships some comfort settings, but not a full set.

SettingWhereRecommendation
FOVPause the session on track, then View SettingsMatch it to your screen size and seating distance. Driver61 notes that ACC measures FOV in vertical degrees.
Cockpit camera movementView SettingsLower the percentage to reduce how much the cockpit camera moves. Kunos made this a percentage slider at the Steam launch.
Lock to horizonView SettingsTest it on and off for a few laps each. Alt+H toggles it in a session, and Shift+H and Ctrl+H step the partial effect up and down.

One guide explains these settings for every game: how field of view, motion blur, head bob and camera shake trigger motion sickness.

What helps beyond the settings

  • Run the same laps with the horizon lock on and off, and keep the setting that sits easier
  • Lower the cockpit camera movement percentage before you change anything else
  • End the stint at the first sign of queasiness, look at a fixed point away from the screen and slow your breathing

The fixes people reach for once they step away from the screen are covered separately, with the trials attached: the remedy verdicts.
