Why it happens in a Chevrolet
General Motors designed One Pedal Driving as an efficiency and convenience feature, and it does both jobs well. Lifting off the accelerator turns the drive motor into a generator, recovering energy and slowing the car firmly enough to stop it without touching the brake pedal. The driver initiates that and knows exactly when it will happen. A passenger gets no warning at all: no brake lights, no engine note falling away, no gradual weight transfer. Chevrolet adds a second control, the Regen on Demand paddle behind the steering wheel, which lets the driver summon extra braking on the fly. 1. Turn One Pedal Driving off in an Equinox EV

2. Use Normal rather than High
If the driver wants to keep one-pedal driving, Normal applies moderate regeneration and High the strongest. Normal is a reasonable compromise between efficiency and a smoother ride for passengers.
3. Use the button in a Bolt
Bolt models have a physical control near the shifter that toggles One Pedal Driving while in Drive, so it can be switched without going into the screen menus.
4. Use the on-screen shortcut
Newer Chevrolet EVs put a One-Pedal Driving icon in the on-screen control tray, so the driver can switch it off in one tap without digging through menus.
5. Ask the driver to leave the regen paddle alone
Steady pressure on the brake pedal produces a smoother, more predictable slowdown than repeated pulls on the Regen on Demand paddle. Passengers feel the difference immediately.
